ABB PM891K01 3BSE053241R1
Product Description
The ABB PM891K01 3BSE053241R1 is a high – performance processor unit, integral to the AC 800M control system and also serving the System 800xa distributed control system. Engineered to meet the rigorous demands of industrial applications, it finds extensive use in sectors such as oil and gas, power generation, and chemical processing.

This unit features a monolithic design, integrating power supply, CPU – boards, and unit termination. It houses a 450 MHz Freescale PowerQUICC III MPC8641 processor (not MPC8270 as sometimes misstated), enabling it to efficiently handle multiple tasks and process large amounts of data. With 256 MB of RAM for rapid data access during operation and 512 MB of flash memory for storing programs, configuration data, and historical records, it offers robust data – handling capabilities. There’s also a real – time clock for accurate event time – stamping, LED indicators for easy status monitoring, an init push button for specific operations, and a secure digital interface. Notably, it doesn’t rely on an internal battery for basic functionality.
The PM891K01 comes with two RJ45 Ethernet ports (CN1, CN2) for seamless connection to the control network. These ports support communication protocols like MMS (Manufacturing Message Service) and IAC (Inter – Application Communication), and are recommended for use with a 100 Mbit/s switched Ethernet backbone for the control network, ensuring high – speed and reliable data transfer for effective control and monitoring. Additionally, it has one RJ45 serial port (COM4), which is isolated and dedicated for use with a configuration tool.
It supports CPU redundancy, significantly enhancing system availability. In a redundant setup, both the CPU, CEX – bus, communication interfaces, and S800 I/O can be backed up. The communication expansion bus (CEX – bus) is a key part of the unit. It’s used to expand the on – board communication ports with additional communication interface units, and redundant
